Following presentations were delivered at the CXO forum ("Business Governance of Information Technology - The CXOs' Perspective") organized by the ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter on the 29th of April, 2009 at Hotel Galadari. A very brief audio/visual introduction to IT governance is available here which ISACA distributed among candidate participants prior to the event.
1. IT Governance - Mr. Ramesh Shanmuganathan (Executive Vice President / Group CIO of John Keells Holdings PLC)
About Speaker: Ramesh Shanmuganathan is the John Keells group’s Chief Information Officer and has over 16 years of experience in the ICT industry both in Sri Lanka and the USA, with the last 9 years in C-level management. Prior to this he has served in the Group’s IT sector as the CEO of Keells Business Systems Limited since 2001 and Head of Strategy/New Business Initiatives of John Keells Computer Services Ltd since 2004 until he assumed duties as the Group’s CIO. He is a Hayes-Fulbright Scholar and holds to his credit a MSc (Information Technology & Computer Science) with Phi Kappa Phi Honours from Rochester Institute of Technology, MBA (General) from Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, BSc.Eng. (Electronics & Telecommunications) with First Class Honours from University of Moratuwa. He is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered IT Professional and a Fellow of the British Computer Society. He also has active memberships in several other professional institutions and is a visiting faculty member for several post-graduate programs.

2. IT Governance Frameworks - Mr. Kamal Wickramanayke (IT Architect from Software View)
About Speaker: Kamal Wickramanayake is an IT Architect from Software View. He was the Marketing Director of ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter during the year 2008. Certified by The Open Group as an enterprise architecture practitioner, he has over seven years of experience in ICT. He holds a First Class Honours degree from the University of Peradeniya in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Kamal is also a member of the the Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects. He is one of the contributed authors of the well rated book 97 Things Every Software Architect Should Know which was published by O'Reilly Media Inc. in February, 2009.

3. Legal Framework - Mr. Jayantha Fernando (Director & Legal Advisor at ICT Agency of Sri Lanka)
About Speaker: Jayantha Fernando holds a specialized LLM degree in IT & Communications Law from the University of London, which he completed on the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship of the UK Government (2001-2003).
He counts over 12 years experience in the field of ICT Law. His expertise covers areas such as ICT Policy and Legal reforms, Internet governance, Internet Protocol addressing & Internet resource management and negotiating/ drafting contracts and software licensing agreements for large ICT Projects. Having started his career as a Judicial Intern to the Senior Judge of the Supreme Court he practiced in the appellate courts before venturing into the sphere of ICT Law (in Sri Lanka and overseas) appearing in several telecom & IT related cases, including the first ever Software infringement case in Sri Lanka.
Jayantha has taken a lead role in driving the ICT Legal reform process undertaken by the Government of Sri Lanka, over the past 12 years and was instrumental in the formulation of the Electronic Transactions Act, No. 19 of 2006 and the Computer Crimes Act No. 24 of 2007. He is is presently involved in developing a Code of practice for Data Protection.
He was a Member of the CINTEC Committee on Law & Computer and a member of the
Computer Crimes Sub-Committee of the Sri Lanka Law Commission (1999-2000) and Convenor of the Computer Crimes Advisory Committee, Ministry of Science & Technology (2003-04). He also assisted the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to review the Computer Crimes Bill (2005- 2007).
Jayantha is a Member of NCED Legal Cluster, Chaired by His Lordship the Chief Justice. He was a Member Steering Committee for the design of World Bank funded e-Sri Lanka Development Project and was part of the Negotiating Team member with IDA of World Bank.
Jayantha lectures extensively on the subjects both in Sri Lanka and overseas. He is a visiting lecturer and examiner at the Sri Lanka Law College, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, Uni of Moratuwa and the University of Colombo.
He currently works as Director & Legal Advisor at the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and is a Board Director of LK Domain Registry (LKNIC) and Sri Lanka Standard Institution (SLSI).
In the international arena he was the Legal Advisor on ICT Legal Reforms to South African SADC Secretariat on a USAID funded legal reforms initiative (2003/04).
In 2005, he was selected as the Associate Chairman of the Nominating Committee of US based global Internet regulatory authority, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
From August 2006 he was selected to be a part of the prestigious 21 Member ICANN’s global panel of Legal Experts for the review of gTLD Registry services worldwide, which is empowered to address security and stability issues concerning the global Internet operations.
In November 2008 Jayantha was elected the Vice Chair of the Government Advisory Committee (GAC) of ICANN, with support from Governments of France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Egypt, Poland, Morocco, Kuwait and Malaysia.

4. Enterprise IT Security - Mr. Nayana Dehigama (Chairman / Managing Director of EPIC Lanka Group)
About Speaker: Nayana D P Dehigama is the Chairman/ Managing Director of EPIC Lanka Group, the renowned ICT solutions provider with a proven track record of 11 years. His company has been honored with 13 national and international accolades including 8 Gold awards during 2008 that include the first ever Gold Award for a commercial software for Sri Lanka at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards and the National Business Excellence Award in IT sector. He drives EPIC by example. He is an active member of the Chamber of Young Lanka Entrepreneurs.
Nayana is currently reading for his doctoral degree at the School of Management of the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He holds a postgraduate diploma in marketing and a MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He also takes part in research committees in local universities.
Being a well known patriotic entrepreneur, Nayana is actively engaged in social activities where he mentors deserving entrepreneurs from rural Sri Lanka. Besides his involvements as the immediate past president of Kingswood Union Colombo Branch he acts as the psychological skills trainer of Kingswood rugby team that has been brought up as a team with a passion to win. His hobbies include reading, music and golf where he has achievements to prove his class as an exemplary achiever. Despite his extensive travelling and business engagements he loves spending time with his wife Dinu and the two kids.
